About Border Collies:
- Originated in Northunberland on the border of Scotland, England and Wales
- Descended from droving and gathering breeds including the Cumberland Sheepdog
- Body slightly longer than the height, medium-long coat, medium size and weight
- Usually 18-22 inches tall and 25-45 lbs.
Why People Love Border Collies:
- Athletic, intelligent
- Perfect agility and Frisbee dogs
- Easy to train
- Especially good dog for farmers
- Not many genetic health problems
Why Border Collies Can Be Challenging:
- Requires a lot of attention, exercise and a job to do - physical exercise alone is not enough
- Can be aggressive towards other dogs of the same sex
- Known to be hyper
- Only a good family dog for VERY active families
- May try to herd other dogs, children and strangers
- Can be prone to hip dysplasia, eye issues and epilepsy

- The AKC recognizes Border Collies that are any color in bi-color, tri-color, merle, sable, or solid patterns
- Variety of ear shapes and eye colors
- World's premiere sheep herder
- Known to have an "eye" that can hypnotize farm animals
- Touted as the smartest breed of dog in the world by some experts
- Not recommended for apartments because they are very active indoors
- Long life expectancy (12-15 years)
- The litter size is usually 6 puppies
